Classification & Compensation Services

We provide customized classification and/or compensation studies for government and non-profit clients across all levels of the organization—from frontline to executive roles. Our classification analyses reflect the needs of the organization, the roles of the incumbents and results are centered on industry best practices regarding employee classification. Our compensation analyses are grounded in current market data and aggregated survey sources to ensure accurate, defensible results. Each study is tailored to fit the unique structure, size, and budget of the organization, with flexible timelines designed to meet critical planning and implementation needs.

Our classification studies are designed to evaluate and define the appropriate level, scope, and structure of positions within your organization. We offer a full range of services, from individual reclassification reviews to comprehensive, organization-wide classification system development or updates. Each study is tailored to reflect your agency’s operational needs, staffing models, and internal alignment.

Our compensation studies are grounded in labor market analysis and benchmark positions found in comparable agencies, while also addressing internal equity for roles unique to your organization. We carefully consider your agency’s size, structure, and budget to provide actionable, defensible recommendations.

All studies include the option for virtual or in-person presentations to leadership, staff, or governing bodies, offering flexibility in how results are shared and implemented.

Administrative Investigations

We provide impartial administrative investigation services for non-law enforcement government agencies. Our investigations focus on determining whether just cause exists for disciplinary action, ensuring procedural fairness and thorough documentation. Clients receive a clear, well-documented summary of findings and a professional determination regarding the presence or absence of just cause, supporting sound and defensible personnel decisions.

Our investigations center on the seven test for just-cause:

  1. Knowledge of the Rule

  2. Reasonableness of the Rule

  3. Sufficient Investigation

  4. Fairness in Enforcement

  5. Proportionality of Disciple

  6. Opportunity for Improvement

  7. Timeliness of the Action

All investigations include the option for virtual or in-person staff interviews with a written summary of findings at the conclusion of the investigation.
